Virat Kohli is praised by Gautam Gambhir for playing the "best ODI knock by an Indian"

Head coach Gautam Gambhir and star batsman Virat Kohli shared a screen before India’s two-match Test series against Bangladesh, where they talked about a variety of subjects including their banter, their triumph at the World Cup 2011, and their cricket career thus far. Together, the pair has experienced great success, but they have also been penalized by the disciplinary committee for their frequent verbal altercations during the IPL.

But those days are long gone, and they are now cooperating to advance Indian cricket. In the meantime, Gambhir, who bestowed onto Virat Kohli the Player of the Match award early in his career, discussed the latter’s achievements in international cricket and expressed his belief that he has left a legacy that future generations will find inspiring.

The 42-year-old also discussed his finest ODI innings, which he played in the 2012 Asia Cup against Pakistan. Gambhir went for a duck while Pakistan was chasing 330 runs, and Kohli turned the tide of the match by hitting 183 runs while batting at number three. According to Gambhir, he contributed to India’s six-wicket victory, which was the greatest innings by an Indian player in ODI history.

He also discussed Virat Kohli’s achievements in the 50-over format throughout the years

“I witnessed your debut. played a really significant and impressive knock in the Champions Trophy in South Africa (England) against the West Indies on a challenging wicket, up against a formidable attack, followed by what was likely the greatest one-day innings ever played by an Indian. Not just based on opinion, since men have double hundreds,” Gambhir stated in a BCCI-released video.

“By chasing 300+ against Pakistan and against such a strong resistance, it is the best innings I have ever witnessed. You have therefore gone a long way. He went on, “Those are really special things, and most importantly, the legacy you have left for the next generation to follow, and how you have taken Indian cricket forward.”
