Virat Kohli has regained his position in the top 10 of the ICC Men's Test Player Rankings.

Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, has regained his position in the top 10 of the ICC Men’s Test Player Rankings. Meanwhile, Dean Elgar, the opener for South Africa, has made a significant leap in the rankings following his outstanding performance in the first Test of the two-match ICC World Test Championship series in Centurion. South Africa emerged victorious in this match, winning by an inning and 32 runs, thereby taking a 1-0 lead in the series.

Virat Kohli, a previous top-ranked batsman who fell out of the top 10 in mid-2022, has climbed four places to reach ninth position after scoring 38 and 76 runs.

However, he is still 103 rating points behind the current top-ranked batsman, Kane Williamson of New Zealand, who has 864 points. Joe Root is second on the list with a rating of 859, while Steve Smith ranks third with 820 rating points.

Elgar, a left-handed batsman, has significantly improved his ranking by 19 positions to reach 17th place. He achieved this with his impressive innings of 185 runs, leading the team in the second Test match in Cape Town. It is worth noting that this will be Elgar’s final international encounter since he has declared his retirement following the conclusion of this series.

Following their impressive performances in the first Test, KL Rahul of India, who scored a century in the first innings, has climbed 11 places to 51st in the rankings. Similarly, Marco Jansen of South Africa has made progress in all three lists. Jansen, who achieved an unbeaten score of 84 and took four wickets in the match, has advanced by 13 positions to reach 72nd rank among hitters. Additionally, he has climbed three positions to secure the 22nd spot among bowlers and has made a significant leap from 13th to fifth place in the list of all-rounders.

In the most recent weekly update, which takes into account the performances in the second Test between Australia and Pakistan, Marnus Labuschagne, an Australian batter, has moved up one position to seventh after scoring a half-century in the first innings. Additionally, Alex Carey has climbed four places to 41st, and Mitchel Marsh has risen 16 places to 52nd.

Pakistan’s Saud Shakeel has moved up one spot to 13th position, Abdullah Shafique has climbed three spots to 21st place, and Mohammed Rizwan has risen four spots to 27th place in the batting rankings following the Melbourne Test. Australia emerged victorious in the match, winning by a margin of 79 runs and taking a 2-0 lead in the three-test series.
