Virat Kohli Goes 2nd on ODI Run-Scorers List After 3rd ODI

On Saturday, October 25, Virat Kohli ended his run-drought by batting 74 not out off 81 balls in the third ODI against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Virat Kohli Goes 2nd on ODI Run-Scorers List After 3rd ODI

At the Sydney Cricket Ground on Saturday, October 25, the famous Virat Kohli crushed 74 not out off 81 balls to end his run-drought in the third One-Day International match against Australia. After recording ducks in the first two ODIs, he would play a vital innings and exhale heavily.

Virat Kohli total of runs in the ODI format throughout the match was more than that of former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara. The 36-year-old’s record for most runs scored in 50-over cricket currently only surpassed by the legendary Sachin Tendulkar. When Sangakkara’s record was broken, Kohli scored his 54th run. In the 305th ODI, or 293rd innings, the right-handed hitter reached this milestone.

Sangakkara required 87 more innings than Kohli did to accomplish the historic milestone. The Delhi batsman has amassed 14,255 runs at an incredible average of 57.91 from 305 ODIs. With 51 ODI cricket centuries under his belt, Kohli reached his 75th half-century on Saturday. In the format, the right-handed batsman has more tons than any other international cricket player.

ODI cricket’s most runs:

In 452 innings, Sachin Tendulkar scored 18,426.
Virat Kohli: 293 innings, 14,255 runs
380 innings, 14,234 runs, and Kumar Sangakkara

Virat Kohli still behind Sangakkara in total runs in international cricket, even though he surpassed his total in ODIs. 28,016 runs were scored by the Sri Lankan mainstay in 594 games. Conversely, Virat Kohli has amassed 27,599 runs in 552 games.

Australia wins the series 2-1, and India avoids falling short.

A 237-run target was chased down by the Men in Blue on Saturday in 38.3 overs. Harshit Rana was instrumental, scoring four runs in the opening inning. In response, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli put together an incredible 168-run unbeaten partnership off 169 balls to lead their team home.

With 121 from 125 balls, 13 fours, and three sixes, Rohit was still undefeated. Player of the Match and Series awards went to the former captain of India.
