If Virat Kohli could get going and score more runs, I would be very delighted. Vikram Rathour

"But yeah, it is good when you are challenged at times," Rathour concluded.

If Virat Kohli could get going and score more runs, I would be very delighted. Vikram Rathour

The batting coach for Team India, Vikram Rathour, has come out and said he is not satisfied with star player Virat Kohli’s efforts in the current T20 World Cup. Though they are still undefeated in the World Cup, Team India’s performance without Kohli in the main event has been concerning.

With an average of 7.25 runs per game, Kohli has amassed 29 runs in his four T20 World Cup games to date. Even though the Men in Blue defeated Afghanistan handily in their opening Super Eight match, Kohli was unimpressive again, scoring 24 runs in a little number of deliveries.

Prior to India’s second Super Eight matchup with Bangladesh, Rathour discussed Virat Kohli’s struggles at the plate but expressed the opinion that it is healthy for the elite batsman to be tested occasionally.

“I don’t feel content. If he gets rolling and hits more runs, it would be fantastic. However, it is beneficial to occasionally be questioned. Our middle-order came to play today, and the men who don’t often get a lot of batting opportunities in India are the ones who put up big scores. Thus, what was observed was positive,” Rathour was cited by Sportskeeda.

We’ve always had depth as a team: Vikram Rathour

Additionally, Rathour discussed how India’s squad’s adaptability is one of their greatest current qualities. In the group stage, the Men in Blue used three pacers and two spinners; in the Super Eight match, they elected to use three spinners.

As a squad, I think we’ve always had depth. However, as we can afford to play two or three spinners at times, these conditions may be more favourable to us. so that we may have our greatest team, I think. We are strong because of that, added Rathour.

“It seems like having someone like Axar Patel (who is currently playing at number eight) gives you a lot of confidence because he can bat and bowl really well.” Therefore, it does provide you with several possibilities,” he continued.
