As is his habit, star batsman Virat Kohli of India broke yet another record following Day 4 of the ongoing second Test match between his country and Bangladesh. On the penultimate day of the match, India and Bangladesh eventually assembled to resume play in a match plagued by rain in Kanpur.
Following their successful first-inning stand of 233 runs against the visitors, India adopted an attacking strategy from the outset, taking Bangladesh’s bowling assault head-on.
Following the strong starts from Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal, it was Virat Kohli’s time to face the bowlers from Bangladesh.
The top batsman proceeded to hit 47 runs off just 35 deliveries, making history as the fastest player to reach the 27,000-run milestone in international cricket.
The previous record was held by the famous Sachin Tendulkar, who accomplished the feat in 623 innings, whilst Virat Kohli accomplished it in just 594 innings. Kohli has amassed an astounding 13,906 runs in 295 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and 8918 runs in Test matches. He scored 4,188 runs in Twenty20 Internationals before declaring his retirement from the shortest format.

Bangladesh is behind Day 5 by 26 runs.
Regarding the India vs. Bangladesh match, the Indian team came in to bat after surrendering 233 runs, and Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma scored 72 and 23 runs, respectively, to start the innings. India responded with 285 runs, declaring their innings after Shubman Gill contributed 39 runs and Kohli and KL Rahul scored 47 and 68 runs, respectively.
With four wickets apiece, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh were the top wicket-takers in the first innings. Hasan Mahmud also claimed a wicket.
Bangladesh lost two wickets quickly after taking a lead. Hasan Mahmud and Zakir Hasan were eliminated with scores of 4 and 10, respectively.

Bangladesh finished the fourth day of the second Test with a total of 26 runs, behind by 26 runs after losing two wickets. While India will be trying to take wickets and win the match, the team will aim to play for a draw.
