I won’t feel like an outsider because Virat Kohli assured me that RCB would support me the entire season: Yash Dayal

Following his five-sixes against Rinku Singh in the 2023 Indian Premier League, Yash Dayal was withdrawn from the starting eleven and received a lot of criticism. Despite his enormous talent, the Gujarat Titans later released him. For the same reason, Royal Challengers Bengaluru won the auction. Although the team was briefly mocked, their investment paid off as Dayal took 15 wickets in 14 games to help RCB advance to the playoffs.

Notably, Dayal’s move from Gujarat to Bengaluru hasn’t been simple. He endured abuse all season long, and it seemed unlikely that any team would select him for the 2024 Indian Premier League. But since RCB continued to believe in Dayal, he was able to orchestrate an incredible comeback. Regarding that, Dayal said that leading batsman Virat Kohli welcomed him into the team and assured him that he would never feel alienated.

“The most important thing Kohli told me was that I would have their support throughout the season and that I wouldn’t feel like an outsider on the squad. They were my biggest supporters during the season, which gave me encouragement. Dayal told SportsTak, “He interacts with kids in the same way as others, and I didn’t feel that with him. What people talk about him on TV,”

Additionally, Yash Dayal talked candidly about the RCB dressing room, saying that the seniors there were kind and encouraging and that the environment was quite laid back. In the future, he indicated that he would like to stay with RCB, but he let management make that decision.
