Virat Kohli completes 300 catches in international cricket against Australia.

On Day 2 of the ongoing fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023, he scored his maiden international century (March 10). Ashwin has joined Nathan Lyon as the bowler with the most wickets in the history of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, while Usman Khawaja has became the fourth Australian to hit 150 or more runs in India. Green scored his first international century as Australia‘s first innings totaled 480 runs. Virat Kohli, a batsman for India, entered the record books by completing 300 catches in international cricket. Australia’s first innings ended when he caught Nathan Lyon at first slip off Ashwin’s delivery. This was his 109th catch in Test cricket, surpassing Sunil Gavaskar’s previous record of 108.

The 34-year-old batsman has grabbed 109 catches in 108 Tests, leaving him six short of Sachin Tendulkar’s 115 catches in 200 Tests. Ajinkya Rahane has grabbed 99 catches in his 82 Tests, 10 fewer than Virat Kohli, who has taken 110 catches in Tests.

Rahul Dravid, a former captain and current head coach, is in first place with an astounding total of 209 catches in 163 Tests. National Cricket Academy director VVS Laxman is in second place with 135 catches in 134 Tests.

With 141 catches in 271 ODIs, Virat Kohli ranks second among Indian players. Former top hitter Mohammad Azharuddin holds the record for most catches in ODIs with 156 in 334 appearances.

Virat Kohli has grabbed 50 catches in 115 T20 internationals, second only to Rohit Sharma’s 58 catches in 148 matches.

In the first innings of the ongoing Test in Ahmedabad, India is currently behind the opposition by 444 runs. On Day 3, the hosts will attempt to lessen the deficit and get closer to Australia’s first-inning total of 480 runs.
