He had to wait until 2008 to be awarded a Test cap against Australia in Mohali, when he immediately made an impression with a five-wicket debut. By taking 18 wickets in five games against Zimbabwe in 2013, Amit Mishra tied the world record held by the great Javagal Srinath for the most wickets in a bilateral ODI series.
He also participated in the 2014 T20 World Cup in Bangladesh, where he took 10 wickets with an economy rate of 6.68 and an average of 14.70.
