Vaughan Warns England of 5-0

Michael Vaughan, a former captain of England, has cautioned that if they don’t improve against Australia in the current Ashes, they might end up with a 0-5 sweep. With three games remaining, England lost the first and second Tests of the series by eight wickets.

“I haven’t seen anything from the suggests in the two games so far to believe that they could win even a single match in the series,” said Vaughan, who won Player of the Series in the 2002–03 series Down Under.

“I’m sorry to say it. This might end up being 5-0 if England is not careful. England hasn’t shown me enough to believe they can win a game just yet. It is feasible, and they are a strong group of players.

“This can get much worse before it gets better if they do not improve quickly,” Vaughan said on BBC’s Test Match Special.

The well-known pundit pointed out that the Ben Stokes-led team will need to alter their starting lineup for their match starting on December 17 at the Adelaide Oval.

“England will need to adjust before they travel to Adelaide. They must give Ollie Pope’s viewpoint careful thought. He has faced Australia in a number of games. Pope has a psychological scar against Australia. Do you invite Jacob Bethell in? Is it possible for Jacks to bat at number six and Stokes at number three? “Bringing Bethell into this series when the team is behind 2-0 and he hasn’t scored a First-Class hundred is a big risk,” he continued.

So far in this series, England has been underdog. The Three Lions haven’t won a red-ball game in Australia since the 2010–11 season, which has further increased the strain.

England has been humiliated three times in the Ashes series: in 1920–21, 2006–07, and the 2013–14 series, although Australia has never been completely swept.
