One of the most prominent players who was left off of India’s T20 World Cup 2024 squad was star batsman Rinku Singh. After rising to the top while playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, the middle-order batsman has been one of the finest in the team ever.
Remarkably, Rinku has averaged 89.75 while scoring 356 runs in 15 Twenty20 Internationals. With a strike rate of 176.24, he is among the top performers for India in the format. Rinku Singh has not been able to perform in the IPL 2024 despite his brilliant form. With an average of 18.67, he has scored 168 points in 13 games.
In addition, Rinku Singh was not given enough playing time in the IPL 2024’s early going.
But, former England batter Michael Vaughan says, he was never able to capitalize on his opportunities when he did have them.
“He’s a fantastic player who can strike the ball. He’s got opportunities and has even arrived early on certain instances, but he wasn’t able to take full use of those possibilities. His current level is so high because we anticipate it. Because you have to take so many chances in Twenty20 cricket, you occasionally have a run of games where things don’t go your way, Vaughan said to Cricbuzz.

In addition, Michael Vaughan contemplated that Rinku Singh’s slim phase would pass quickly and that he will soon return to his peak performance. He disclosed that Rinku is simply going through a difficult time and isn’t getting to bat very often.

“In the past few years, I have witnessed him suddenly erupt. He is a good player who stays in the game towards the end, which is why he averages 80 for India. He is not a one-hit wonder; I doubt that in two years we will be asking, “Where’s Rinku Singh gone?” He’s no longer there. “He’s not the player we had assumed he was,” Vaughan remarked.
