Despite being India’s captain and having yet to lose a T20I series, Suryakumar Yadav’s batting efforts this season have been mediocre. Varun Aaron, a former bowler for India, thinks the Mumbai batter’s confidence will soar if he scores runs in the fifth Twenty20 International match against South Africa on Friday, December 19, at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The 35-year-old only managed to score 29 runs at an average of 9.67 and a strike rate of 111.54 in the first three Twenty20 Internationals against the Proteas.
Shubman Gill, the vice captain of India, will also like to hit some runs in the fifth Twenty20 International, according to Varun Aaron.
In an exchange on the Star Sports program “Follow the Blues,” Varun Aaron was questioned about Suryakumar’s strategy for Friday’s crucial match in Ahmedabad.
Suryakumar Yadav has to score some runs, thus I believe he will be concentrating on doing so. Since runs haven’t come from Suryakumar Yadav’s bat in a while, or even from Shubman Gill’s bat, there would be a significant shift in confidence if he scores,” he said.
“These two are key batters in our setup when we talk about the T20 World Cup, and if they score runs, the Indian team will remain absolutely bullet-proof,” Varun Aaron said.
In reference to his performance for Mumbai in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, when the right-handed batter amassed 165 runs from five innings at an average of 41.25 and a strike rate of 139.83, Varun Aaron stated that Suryakumar isn’t entirely out of form.
Suryakumar Yadav isn’t quite completely out of form. His Mushtaq Ali stats show that he had a solid strike rate and an average of 41. He said, “I think he’s just one inning away from finding his form.”
At the appropriate moment, Suryakumar Yadav will do well: Varun Aaron Aaron commended Suryakumar’s leadership abilities, stating that even with the retirement of veterans like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, it is difficult to attain the kind of outcomes he has.
“After two of your key players retire, you know you are doing a lot of things correctly if you have an 83 percent victory record as captain. You achieved these kinds of outcomes even when the mainstays of Indian cricket were no longer in your T20 team,” he retorted.
The Mumbai-born player’s comeback to form at the right moment for the Men in Blue was supported by the former cricket player turned specialist.
“It simply demonstrates your excellent cricket sense and the boys’ confidence in you. Although Suryakumar Yadav isn’t scoring as many runs as we would like, Aaron noted, “I believe he will perform well when the time is right.”
