The United States would advance to the next round if they win their final matchup against Ireland on Friday, June 14. If that does not materialise, though, they will have to rely on other outcomes to work in their advantage.
After then, the USA would also need Ireland to defeat Pakistan. In the event of a Pakistani victory, they would advance to four points as well, surpassing the co-hosts thanks to their NRR, which is already higher than the USA’s. Although Ireland’s current NRR of -1.712 will make it difficult for them to finish second in such a scenario, they would still advance to four points if they win their next two games.
It will come down to whose NRR is higher if Canada defeats India, and the match would go to four points. All things considered, the USA’s best chance is to defeat Ireland in their final match and automatically advance to the Super 8 without incident.
