Even the bus driver urged me to bowl at the 4th-5th stump line to Virat Kohli: Himanshu Sangwan

After dismissing Virat Kohli during his return to the Ranji Trophy after over 12 years, Himanshu Sangwan became a highly sought-after figure in local cricket. After pitching at the Arun Jaitley Stadium last week, the right-arm seamer, who was playing for Railways against Delhi, thrashed the former India skipper with a stunning delivery that sailed back.

Everyone on the Railways team thought he would get Kohli out, Himanshu Sangwan disclosed a few days after the dismissal. Deliveries bowled outside the off-stump have proven difficult for the great hitter to handle. Sangwan claimed that in order to defeat Kohli, the bus driver also instructed him to bowl in the fourth or fifth stump line. Instead of attempting to take advantage of the batter’s weakness, the 29-year-old chose to support his strengths. The decision paid off, as the Najafgarh native took the largest wicket of his career.

“There were discussions prior to the game over Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant playing for Delhi. We were unaware at the time that the contest would be broadcast live. We gradually discovered that Virat will play in place of Rishabh Pant and that the game would be televised live. The Railways’ tempo offensive is being led by me. Every member of the team informed me that they believed I would fire Virat Kohli, Sangwan told HT.

“Even the bus driver informed me that you must bowl to Virat Kohli at the fourth or fifth stump line before he gets off the van in which we were going. I believed in myself. All I wanted to do was concentrate on my own advantages over the shortcomings of others. I got the wicket by bowling to my strengths,” he continued.

There was no set bowling strategy against Kohli, according to Sangwan. He noted that because the Delhi hitters are known for playing aggressive cricket, the coaches instructed them to bowl disciplined lines against them.

“In general, there was no set strategy for Virat Kohli. The Delhi players enjoy playing attacking cricket, according to the coaches. Each of them plays a stroke. The 29-year-old stated, “We were instructed to bowl a disciplined line.”

“Very well bowled,” Virat bhaiya himself stated as we clasped hands: Himanshu Sangwan

Sangwan also disclosed that Kohli complimented him on his bowling technique and shook his hand during the game. Later, Sangwan carried the ball he had used to dismiss Kohli to the Delhi dressing room. The ball was autographed by the renowned cricket player by the right-arm speedster.

“Virat Kohli was arriving on the pitch as our innings came to a conclusion, and I was heading to the dressing room. Virat and Ayush Badoni were present. “Very well bowled,” observed Virat bhaiya, who shook my hand. I was doing good at bowling, he said. Then, during the lunch break, I informed him I wanted to snap a photo with him. I went to the changing room in Delhi. I used the same ball that I used to remove him. Even if it was the same ball, he questioned me. “Oh teri ki,” he said in jest. He went on, “Maza aa gaya tujhe toh’.”
