India, led by Unmukt Chand, were victorious in the 2012 U19 World Cup. He was hailed as the next big thing in Indian cricket shortly after that, but his career trajectory did not meet expectations. He was acquired by the Delhi Daredevils (now the Delhi Capitals) in the Indian Premier League, but the cricketer was quickly eliminated from contention after failing to live up to expectations.
After retiring from Indian cricket in 2021, Unmukt Chand came to the United States of America in search of a chance to play more games.
After three years in the nation, he is now expected to obtain the eligibility badge and will play for the United States in the forthcoming T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to start on June 1. In response, the cricket player said that his objective has been to play against India ever since he retired from the country.
“It might seem strange to some, but ever since I retired from playing for India, I’ve always wanted to play against them. Not out of animosity, but I was eager to see how I would fare against the greatest team in the world,” Unmukt Chand said in an interview with Cricbuzz.
Recalling his days of playing alongside Jasprit Bumrah, Smit Patel
Further additions to the 2012 group are spinner Harmeet Singh and stumper-batter Smit Patel, who are now part of the USA squad. Among them, Smit has experience in domestic cricket alongside Jasprit Bumrah. Before relocating to the United States, he served as a representative for Tripura, Baroda, and Gujarat. The cricketer, who had spent time with Bumrah while in Gujarat, remembered one of their practise sessions.
Over the years, (I) have spent a great deal of time with Jassi. I still recall the day he showed up for practice for the first time and we were in complete shock at what we were seeing (laughs),” Smit stated on the internet. “We used to call him Jasprit Gumrah (confuse),” Smit recalled calling him back then.
