Steve Smith, the star batsman for Australia, was curiously dismissed after dominating the fourth Test match against India at the storied Melbourne Cricket Ground. The 35-year-old attempted a cover drive as he danced down the field, but an inside edge caused the ball to hit leg and roll into the stumps. Smith’s amazing 140-run knock came to an end when the ball, which had very little force, managed to knock out one of the bells.
Smith, who plagued India on Day 2, was taken out by Akash Deep, who earned the valuable wicket. As he stitched a vital 112-run partnership with captain Pat Cummins, who scored 49 runs, the visitors appeared astounded. Smith looked perfect and wasn’t afraid to knock a couple boundaries and sixes early on Day 2, so the Rohit Sharma-led team didn’t have a good plan to deal with his fury.

Smith’s eleventh Test century against India was noteworthy. He achieved the most centuries in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy’s history, making history. Australia scored a significant amount in the first innings thanks to his century, and the series is now tied at one, with a berth in the WTC final up for grabs.

It’s been going well. I had to put in a lot of effort early yesterday because some of the men did some pretty great job. Actually, I got into my task really quickly, though probably not exactly correctly. It was pleasant and enjoyable. It was a good collaboration with Cummo (Cummins). He played with good intentions. We are in a pretty good place, but I regrettably missed his fifty,” Smith told 7 Cricket.
