Rumor has it that tearaway speedster Umran Malik would not compete in the first round of the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy due to a hip issue. According to News18, the same report indicates that he will most likely be sidelined for at least six weeks.
Elite Group A includes Jammu & Kashmir for the next edition, which is scheduled to start on October 11, 2024. Although Umran’s injured replacement has not yet been announced by the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA), one is anticipated shortly.
Umran Malik participated in the previous competition as a member of the J&K team.
He was unable to have much of an effect, though. His left hip stress fracture is not the first ailment he has suffered. Umran participated in just one game in the Indian Premier League in 2024 before the management apparently decided not to use him because of his lack of experience. He was sidelined for a considerable amount of time following the IPL due to a dengue episode and a hamstring injury, and he spent that time recovering at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.
Umran is expected to miss the following four games for his state: those against Services, Meghalaya, Odisha, and Maharashtra.
Mayank Yadav makes his India debut against Bangladesh in the inaugural Twenty20 International.
Regarding international cricket, Mayank Yadav, a fast bowler who made his name in the IPL like Umran, has been selected for India’s starting XI for their opening Twenty20 international match against Bangladesh.
Both Umran and Mayank have shown a great tendency to bowl quickly on a regular basis, but Umran would be very disappointed with his injury, especially since his IPL counterpart has entered the international scene.

How Mayank does in Gwalior is yet to be seen. However, Umran would prefer to go back to his best and be ready for the tournament’s second round, which pits J&K against Mumbai and Baroda in January 2025.
