following more than two months of play, the IPL 2025 came to an end on Tuesday night, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) finally winning a trophy following a 17-year trophy drought. However, a stampede that killed 11 people during Wednesday’s victory celebration in Bengaluru converted the pleasure of victory into a tragedy.
As thousands of supporters gathered around the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium and surrounding roadways to rejoice with their favourite side, the Garden City saw an incredible turnout. Because of the crowd’s magnitude, the city’s police force was unable to keep the peace.
Law police made an effort to control and disperse the crowd, but thousands of people jammed against the stadium’s admission gates in an attempt to see the players. Rapid escalation of the violent situations resulted in a tragic stampede.
While expressing their indignation and disappointment at the course of events, RCB expressed sincere regret over the situation.
They underlined how crucial it is for the public and spectators to be safe and healthy. The brand expressed its deepest sympathies to the families of those impacted and referred to the occurrence as terrible.
“The terrible events that have been revealed by media reports of public gatherings held throughout Bengaluru in advance of the team’s arrival this afternoon cause us great distress. We place the highest priority on everyone’s safety and wellbeing. RCB expresses its deepest sympathies to the impacted families and laments the terrible death toll. As soon as we learnt of the problem, we immediately made changes to our program and heeded the local administration’s counsel. “Please stay safe, all of our supporters,” the statement said.
Numerous cricket players lamented the deaths and the regrettable turn of events on social media, expressing their astonishment and sadness at the incident. The incident was similar to the wild reception India’s T20 World Cup-winning team received in Mumbai the previous year.
