Tushar Deshpande, a fast bowler for Mumbai, has disclosed that he kept playing despite having severe bronchitis during the just finished Jammu & Kashmir match. In the first round of the current Ranji Trophy season, Mumbai defeated the hosts by 35 runs at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar, thanks in large part to Deshpande.
During the warm-up, Tushar Deshpande disclosed that he had briefly lost consciousness. Nevertheless, putting aside his discomfort before and throughout the game, Tushar Deshpande acknowledged that he was prepared “to do it” for his squad.
“This game was really important to us and to me personally as well. We hoped to get off to a strong start to the season after losing to Jammu & Kashmir the previous season. For me, it was especially significant because I was going back to Ranji after a year and a half. “I fell asleep for ten seconds during the warm-up, but I was able to overcome my discomfort because I was motivated to help my team,” Tushar Deshpande said, as reported by Indian Express.
While taking three wickets and giving up 57 runs, Tushar Deshpande bowled the most overs (19) in J&K’s opening innings.
In the second innings for Mumbai, he was undefeated at 8 from 20 balls. After taking out Shubham Khajuria (0 off 2) in the other innings, the Mumbai native finished with figures of 1/56 off 15 balls.
Shams Mulani was the main attraction. In the first innings of Mumbai and the second innings of J&K, the left-handed all-rounder scored 91 and 41 with the bat, and 2/74 and 7/46, respectively. The preceding round of India’s main red-ball domestic season saw J&K upset Mumbai, a match that was notable for Rohit Sharma’s return to Ranji.
The next match between Mumbai and Chhattisgarh will be played at the MCA Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy. On Saturday, October 25, the competition is scheduled to start.
