Trent Boult, a bowler for the Mumbai Indians, asserted that a team score of more than 300 runs was definitely achievable in the 2025 IPL. The left-arm pacer hoped to obtain some early swing in some parts of India in the 18th edition of the league, even though he was aware that the bowlers have been at a disadvantage in recent seasons.
The second-highest total in IPL 2025 history was achieved by SRH against RR early in the season (286). Since then, the current season hasn’t seen a score this high.
“This competition will undoubtedly see a score of 300 or above. Trent Boult asserted, “I’d like to think it’s still swinging in some parts of the country, but it seems like the ball is travelling farther.”
According to the Trent Boult, who was speaking from the bowlers’ point of view, the fact that the batters were hitting them hard gave them some possibilities. Trent Boult believed that maintaining concentration, accuracy, and aggression were crucial for the bowlers. He believed that a furious version of the bowlers would be adored by the fans.
“The only bright spot from a bowling standpoint is that batsmen are coming hard, which opens up opportunities. The bowlers will eventually have their day if we concentrate on accuracy, maintain our aggression, and give it our best shot. The MI pacemaker went on to say, “That’s what fans want to see, and I’m sure there will be plenty of people watching.”
I’m always challenging myself to think of fresh ideas and plans: Trent Boult
The renowned pacer stated that bowling at the death is quite difficult when questioned about the shift in dynamics in death bowling. He stated that he constantly worked on it and that he intended to improve and never settle for less. The 2020 IPL champion stated that he wanted to push himself to be the best version of himself in order to explore new possibilities.
I’ve always worked on it, but it’s a difficulty. My guiding principle has been to continuously improve and never reach a performance or skill plateau. I’m always challenging myself to think of fresh ideas and plans,” Boult continued.
The evolution of the game and its impact on death bowling were discussed by the MI bowler. He believed that it may be difficult to play against unfamiliar faces, which might push the bowlers to perform at their highest level. Boult believed that the key was having the clarity and ability to perform well under duress. The famous pacer closed before MI’s game against LSG by stating that the bowlers have to be ready to seal significant occasions.
You have to be at the top of your game because there are a lot of hitters these days, some of whom we have never even heard of or faced. Executing under pressure and maintaining clarity are crucial. It all comes down to practicing effectively and being prepared for such situations,” Trent Boult said.
On April 27, MI and LSG will play their respective next matches at Wankhede Stadium.
