ENG vs AUS, 5th ODI Review: Travis Head's brilliance ensures series win for visitors

The fifth and final ODI of the series pitted Australia against England. On September 29, both sides clashed at Bristol’s County Ground. Australia had won the first two matches and England had won the third and fourth ODIs, so the series was tied going into the fifth ODI.

Everything hinged on the fifth One-Day International, which started with England losing the toss and having to bat first. With first-round scores of 45 and 107 runs, respectively, Phil Salt and Ben Duckett gave the team a fantastic start to the match. After Will Jacks left for a duck, captain Harry Brook carried on with his good form, scoring 72 runs off of 52 deliveries.

In addition, England scored 309 runs in the first innings of the match thanks to the six runs scored by Jamie Smith, the thirteen by Jacob Bethell, and the thirty-six by Adil Rashid. Regarding Australia, Travis Head claimed the most wickets for his team during the opening session.

Along with Aaron Hardie, Adam Zampa, and Glenn Maxwell, who each claimed two wickets, the outstanding batsman claimed four outstanding wickets.

DLS technique guarantees Australia’s victory.

Australia began their innings with Matthew Short and Travis Head scoring 58 and 31 runs, respectively, as they attempted to chase down a target of 310 runs. In addition, before rain intervened, Steve Smith and Josh Inglis maintained their unblemished records with scores of 36 and 28 runs, respectively.

After a prolonged downpour, it was impossible to continue playing, therefore the game was canceled. Australia was declared the winner since the DLS algorithm showed them to be ahead.
