Travis Head won’t feel compelled to participate in India’s opening Twenty20 International:  Matthew Wade Travis Head is expected to play a big role in the forthcoming five-match T20I series against India, especially with many veteran players not available. This comes after he assisted Australia in winning the ODI World Cup final. But captain Matthew Wade made it clear that he might decide not to play in the first Twenty20 International and that he won’t face any consequences if he does.

Remarkably, Travis Head, who was recovering from a fracture to his left hand, joined the Australian team after the first half of the World Cup. But after coming back, he was quickly inserted into the starting lineup and even struck an incredible century in his opening game of the competition against New Zealand. He produced another outstanding performance on the night of the finals, helping Australia defeat India by six wickets and win the trophy once more. He finished with 137 runs.

Wade also disclosed that prior to selecting the playing XI for the opening Twenty20 International, the team management will speak with Head and find out how he is feeling. The stumper-batter promised that the cricket player would play in all four of the remaining Twenty20 Internationals, even if he is unable to attend the opening game.

“We’ll talk to him and find out how he’s feeling. We won’t put any pressure on him to play in the opening Twenty20 International, but he will undoubtedly be involved in the series. The T20 World Cup is coming up soon, and I believe we have ten or eleven games left until the fight resumes.

You will see Travis Head play, whether it’s tomorrow or the entire series,” India Today cited Wade as saying.

Ensuring that players who participated in the World Cup are prepared both physically and mentally: Wade

Wade also emphasized the value of maintaining players’ freshness despite a demanding schedule. The 35-year-old then hinted that some of the players who competed in the just-finished ODI World Cup would not start in the opening T20I since players have to be prepared both physically and mentally for a contest.

The players from the World Cup are being consulted. Our goal is to ensure that they are both physically and psychologically prepared to leave. Therefore, a couple of those individuals will undoubtedly miss tomorrow’s action in order to get ready for the next four games. We have a full roster to choose from, aside from the mental and physical exhaustion,” Wade remarked.
