‘Nothing changed in the way we were as a group’- Travis Head refutes claims of divide in Australia team

“I think people picked the bones out of a comment after a bad week, which is fine. Nothing changed when the boys hung around last night..." The head said.

‘Nothing changed in the way we were as a group’- Travis Head refutes claims of divide in Australia team

Australia lost the inaugural Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy to India by 295 runs at the Optus Stadium in Perth, humiliating them in the process. Josh Hazlewood, a pacer for Australia, made a contentious remark prior to Day 4 of the match, stating that the hitters ought to have done more in the first innings, when the hosts were dismissed for a mere 104 in response to India’s 150. Rumors of a potential split in the Australian dressing room were sparked when Hazlewood said he was already concentrating on the second Test.

Former cricket players Michael Vaughan and Adam Gilchrist analyzed the situation and came to the conclusion that the dressing room may be split in two.

Star batsman Travis Head, however, has denied such allegations, saying that despite a single loss,

The team remains cohesive and nothing has changed. The 30-year-old added that the media may have “picked the bones out of a comment” because all of the players were out last night (November 26).

“It’s okay that folks have taken the negative aspects of a comment from a bad week. We all hung out together last night, and our group dynamic remained unchanged. As usual, whether we won or lost, we stayed together and had some insightful chats. They’re a rather level group. “There was undoubtedly a lot of disappointment in the room, but there were definitely no fractions,” Head said.

Australia faced tremendous pressure before the five-match series after losing back-to-back Test series at home to India. Their position in the World Test Championship (WTC) could be jeopardized if they are unable to return to winning ways after losing the opening game, thus the pressure will only mount. Australia has never lost a Pink-ball Test, so they will have the advantage in the next match.
