Travis Head reportedly departs for India to join the Australian team.

According to reports, Travis Head has flown to India to join the Australian team competing in the ICC Cricket World Cup. He wouldn’t be able to play in the team’s fourth game against Pakistan, but he might be ready to go against Netherlands on October 25 in Delhi.

On September 15, while batting in the fourth One-Day International against South Africa, the 29-year-old batsman suffered a hand injury. Gerald Coetzee’s pitch struck his glove, and further scans showed a fracture in a joint on his left hand. The southpaw was able to keep his spot in the ODI team despite the setback. At first, it was predicted that he would require more time to heal and would probably miss half of the group stage games.

The first time since the injury, Travis Head has already resumed batting in the nets.

He just provided an update on his fitness and claimed to have made enormous progress.

It’s progressing nicely, possibly better than we had hoped. We were informed that it would be at least six weeks with the splint before we could consider playing again so we chose against having surgery, which would have required a 10-week recovery period,” Travis Head told cricket.com.au.

Australia wants to make history at the ODI World Cup in 2023.

Australia’s performance in the ongoing ODI World Cup has been dismal; they suffered losses to South Africa and India, respectively. When Pat Cummins and company faced Sri Lanka on October 15 in Lucknow, they were aiming for their first victory in the competition.

Sri Lanka chose to bat first after winning the toss in the match. Kusal Mendis and company were limited to 209 runs in 43.3 overs by Australia thanks in large part to Adam Zampa’s four-wicket haul. In addition to him, the team also had two wickets each from Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera each scored 61 and 78 runs for Sri Lanka, respectively.
