Australia dominated the opening Test of the Ashes in Perth on Saturday, November 22, defeating England by eight wickets. Travis Head led his team to victory in the second innings with a spectacular century, while Mitchell Starc caused havoc with the ball.
As Australia pursued 205 and sought to complete the task swiftly and aggressively, Travis Head opened in the second innings.
After smashing 123 off 83 balls with 16 fours and four sixes, the left-handed batsman acknowledged knowing that England was planning to beat him. He went on to say that the team is trying to give it their all in the second Test in Brisbane and that the opening match has set the tone for the series.
“I doubt I could explain the knock. The series is off to a good start. The way Starcy led us yesterday made it impossible to overlook the fact that they are a really nice outfit. One of Australia’s most famous locations, the Gabba in Brisbane, will now host the next match. It will be a day-night match because the hosts are still awaiting word on the injury status of their mainstay skipper, Pat Cummins.
