Jasprit Bumrah, the legendary Indian pacer, will now be able to play for the first time in 11 months as he has fully recovered from a stress fracture in his back. The seasoned player will be in charge of India’s team against Ireland in a three-match T20I series in Dublin.

The Gujarat pacer admitted that while he was out injured and recovering, he followed India’s exploits. During his recovery period at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, Jasprit Bumrah added that he felt pleased when he ran into other Indian cricketers. Famous international cricketers like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer joined Bumrah at the NCA to heal from their individual injuries.
“I made a lot of new friends at NCA. You can’t always control what happens. You must respect that the body needs time to heal. You will be hungry when you return. You have no idea what an off-season looks like when you play cricket nonstop. I wanted to improve on my fitness and bowling throughout this phase as long as my physical limitations were lifted. I had been keeping up with the team’s progress, and it was nice to meet the players,” Bumrah stated at a news conference, as reported by India Today.
Additionally returning to action against Ireland is Prasidh Krishna
Prasidh Krishna, a youthful and gifted bowler, is also making a comeback in the series against Ireland. He had lumbar stress fracture surgery earlier this year. At the Harare Sports Club in August 2022, he played his final game for his country against Zimbabwe. The 27-year-old has taken 25 wickets while playing in 14 ODIs.
Given that the team already includes Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan, and Arshdeep Singh in addition to captain Bumrah, it will be intriguing to watch if Prasidh receives his first T20I cap right away. On Friday, August 18, at Dublin’s Malahide Cricket Club Ground, the first of the three T20Is in the series will be contested.
