‘Don’t know what will be the condition, feel it is a slow pitch’- Towhid Hridoy analyses Gwalior surface ahead of first T20I against India

‘Don't know what will be the condition, feel it is a slow pitch’- Towhid Hridoy analyses Gwalior surface ahead of first T20I against India

On October 6, India and Bangladesh will play their maiden international match at the New Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Gwalior. The last time Gwalior hosted an international match was in 2010, and it was then that the great Sachin Tendulkar became the first player in ODI history to hit a double century.

The Bangladeshi players are unsure about how the new stadium’s surface will perform in the opening Twenty20 International match against India. Regarding the same, middle-order hitter Towhid Hridoy said he doesn’t anticipate a high-scoring game and anticipates a slow surface. He added that it’s challenging for them to wrap up because no game has ever been held in the stadium.

“Every team wants to score runs in T20; it’s a game of runs.” However, considering this is a new site, no international match has taken place here. We’re not sure what the circumstances will be. I think the practice wicket is a sluggish pitch based on my observation. There are extremely few high-scoring games on these wickets. According to Hridoy, “No IPL match has also happened here,” the Hindustan Times reported.

Our attention is constantly on procedure and performance: Towhid Hridoy

Bangladesh, having lost the two-match Test series, is keen to bounce back in the Twenty20 Internationals. Hridoy said that although there is pressure on the players to recover, they are committed to the process and want to give it their all. He added that Shakib Al Hasan, who stated he will be retiring from Twenty20 international cricket after the T20 World Cup in2024, will be missed by the team.

Pressure is constantly present, but if we dwell on it, we won’t be able to work efficiently; instead, we should always be thinking about the procedure and how to work.

We will miss Shakib bhai, but everyone must depart eventually. We are optimistic that we can defeat them, the 23-year-old stated.
