The first Indian bowler to lead the ICC Test Rankings is Jasprit Bumrah.

Following an amazing performance in the second match of their ICC World Test Championship series against England in Visakhapatnam, Jasprit Bumrah became the first pacer from India to top the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings.

After spinners Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and Bishan Singh Bedi, the 30-year-old became the fourth player from his country to reach the top spot thanks to his nine-wicket match total. He has since surpassed Pat Cummins, Kagiso Rabada, and Ravichandran Ashwin.

Ashwin’s 11-month reign came to an end with a 106-run victory for India, which tied the five-match series. Jasprit Bumrahwas awarded Player of the Match. Ashwin (904) and Jadeja (899) are the only Indian bowlers who have amassed more rating points than Jasprit Bumrah, who now has 881 rating points. Additionally, in March 2017, Ashwin and Jadeja had the rare honor of being rated #1 together.

Kuldeep Yadav, a left-arm wrist spinner, has climbed four spots to 45th rank. In the batting rankings, Shubman Gill rises 14 spots to a career-best 38th place after scoring a century in the second inning, while left-handed opener Yashasvi Jaiswal moves up 37 spots to 29th place after finishing a superb double-century in the first inning.

Another player to benefit from the Visakhapatnam Test is England’s opener Zak Crawley, who moved up eight spots to a career-best 22nd position following scores of 76 and 73.

Tom Hartley has improved on both lists, going from 103rd to 95th in the batting rankings and from 63rd to 53rd in the bowling rankings. Hartley became the second England player with at least 50 runs and five wickets in each of his first two Tests. Rehan Ahmed, a rookie leg spinner, has climbed 14 spots to 70th.

Following his eight-wicket match haul that helped the home team win by ten wickets, left-arm spinner Prabhath Jayasuriya has moved up to a career-best sixth position in the most recent weekly update, which also takes into account performances in the one-off Test between Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in Colombo.

In the batting rankings, Angelo Mathews has risen four spots to 24th after top-scoring in the match with 141. Other Sri Lankan bowlers to move up are Asitha Fernando (up seven places to 34th) and Vishwa Fernando (up nine places to 51st).

Ibrahim Zadran of the Afghanistan team has risen 17 spots to 54th after making a valiant 114 in the second inning. Other noteworthy moves include Rahmat Shah, who has risen 16 spots to 66th, and Noor Ali Zadran, who joined the rankings in 92nd place.

Fast bowler Sean Abbott moved up 35 spots to joint-33rd in the Men’s ODI Rankings after taking six wickets in the three-match series against the West Indies this past week. Australia’s leg-spinner Adam Zampa is now ranked third in the rankings.

Left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie of the West Indies finished the series with four wickets, moving him up from 61st to 54th in the rankings.
