Captain Tim Southee, is happy with New Zealand's balance in the Sri Lankan match

Not enough Test matches have been played by New Zealand in the last six months. The one-off Test match between them and Afghanistan was supposed to take place at Greater Noida, however it was cancelled because of the rain and muddy outfield.

After that, the team captained by Tim Southee will play three Test series at home against India, two against Sri Lanka, and one against England. The 35-year-old made the decision to concentrate on the good things first. The pacer saw that the players had adequate time to bond and spend time together.

He said they have all the bases covered and have a very well-balanced team going into the forthcoming Sri Lanka series. They have good spinners like Mitchell Santner and Ajaz Patel, the Northland-born cricket player continued. In addition, they have other spin choices in Michael Bracewell, Glenn Phillips, and Rachin Ravindra.

“I believe that spin has had a significant historical impact here, especially in Galle. It’s a challenging but very rewarding task for pace bowlers to come here and perform well. “You look at the balance of the squad, we have guys at the top of the order that can offer spin options, we have specialist spinners, and we have four quality seam bowlers that offer different options as well,” Southee.

We seem to have covered a lot of ground: Tim Southee

It is also anticipated by Time Southee that the Galle surface would continue to benefit spinners, as it has in the past. He also said that the pacers from New Zealand are prepared to perform well and that they won’t think twice about making a personnel change if the first Test doesn’t go well.

It’s just a matter of determining which balance, given the circumstances, is the best to strike. I believe we’ve covered a lot of things.

And that can vary from the first to the second game, and it might certainly alter once more when you get to India. Thus, I believe it’s important to have a team that can cover all the bases,” he continued.
