Watch: Tim Southee chose his top two batters for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The Champions Trophy is just a few days away, and predictions are already being made about who players will finish as the top performances at the next ICC event, which will take place in Pakistan and Dubai. Before the tournaments begin, there is already a lot of excitement and debate over who the favourites are to win.

Even while the competition will still have some famous players, some will not be present. One such legend is Tim Southee, the legendary pacer from New Zealand, who has decided to retire from international cricket this season. In an ICC-posted video, the former WTC 2019–2021 champion also expressed his thoughts on the tournament’s top two batters, selecting Australian destructive batsman Travis Head and fellow countryman Kane Williamson. He also provided an explanation for his selections.

“I believe Pakistan would have some excellent wickets. One of the leading run-getters would be Kane Williamson. Just consider his capacity for situational adaptation.

We have witnessed his success and experience in a variety of settings, and he is a man with an incredible one-day record, Tim Southee added.

Travis Head might also be a risky player, in my opinion. He excelled in the previous edition of the ODI World Cup. He will likely enjoy the wickets in Pakistan, in my opinion. Australia has a history of dominating international affairs, and I have no doubt that they will do so again in the latter stages,” Southee continued.
