Tim Southee believes that in the Bangladesh Tests, spin will be king.

The night before the two-match Test series against Bangladesh began, Southee declared, "Spin doesn't play a big part in New Zealand but they will play a bigger role in Bangladesh."

Tim Southee believes that in the Bangladesh Tests, spin will be king.

Tim Southee, the captain of New Zealand’s Test team, is anticipating a field that is conducive to spin in Bangladesh as the two teams prepare to face off in a two-match Test series.

The first game is set to take place on Tuesday, November 28, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.

New Zealand has added five spinners to their lineup, a move that comes from their recent tours to the subcontinent. The 34-year-old fast bowler still expects a difficult Test series to come.

“In comparison to New Zealand, these are foreign conditions. In New Zealand, pace is really important. In this corner of the world, spin has historically played a significant role. In tests, our spinners have performed admirably. We are excited for them to demonstrate their abilities. To simply obtain the WTC points won’t be simple. We are aware that Bangladesh is a fantastic team in the given circumstances.

“This role differs from what we are accustomed to in New Zealand.” There are three seamen present, each with unique skills. No matter where you play in the world, you are a part of a collective bowling unit. Everybody chips differently. In Bangladesh, spin will be more important than it is in New Zealand, he continued.

With our spinners and hitters, we ought to be able to challenge New Zealand. Shanto

Najmul Hossain Shanto, the captain of Bangladesh, gave some insight into his upcoming Test cricket captaincy. Najmul Hossain Shanto stated he was up for the assignment, having led the squad in three one-day internationals (ODIs) since September, replacing the injured regular captain Shakib Al Hasan. The 25-year-old is certain that the team can challenge the Kiwis despite having no prior experience captaining the team in the longest format. He especially believes that their spinners and hitters can make an impression at home.

It’s difficult to say exactly what I took away from those two World Cup games. In addition, the format was different. I was able to figure out little things, like what to do in specific circumstances. As a team, New Zealand is strong. They have strength. The test series will present them with challenges. However, we should be able to push them with our hitters and spinners because we are playing at home. We can defeat this team if everything goes as planned,” Najmul Hossain Shanto remarked.

Additionally, the young person believes that choosing a Bangladeshi captain should preferably be done with the long term in mind.

Making better plans is helpful. I hope the board gives a long-term captain some thought as well. However, I don’t believe the players are giving this any thought. A captain is going to do his job. When each person executes their own task, the team always performs well,” the 25-year-old continued.
