Tim Paine thinks Mitchell Starc will come back for the second Ashes Test and replace Boland.

Australia shocked everyone by leaving out their star left-arm pacer, Mitchell Starc so they could make room for Josh Hazlewood for the first Ashes game in Birmingham. Even though the guests won the first game of the series, Tim Paine, a former captain of Australia, thinks Starc will be in the running to start the second Test. Even though Australia beat England in a very exciting game at Edgbaston, there have been some questions about how Josh Hazlewood and Scott Boland played.

In the first match, the two of them only took five wickets between them. Tim Paine, who used to be the captain of Australia, thinks that Mitchell Starc will be back for the second Test at Lord’s, taking the place of Scott Boland. Even though he left Boland off the second Test, Paine said it had more to do with how the bowlers were being used than with their form.

“It’s important when you play in a five-match series. We have six Test matches in six weeks, so there’s no question that those fast bowlers will be switched out. I think that Starc will replace Boland. Again, we can’t drop Scott Boland because he’s been so good, but we need all of these bowlers to help us win these Ashes at some point. In an exchange on the SEN show, Paine said, “I think our captain, Pat Cummins, is the only person they will try to get through all five Tests.”

Paine said more about why Starc was chosen for the Lord’s Test. He thought that the left-handed pacer would be a powerful tool against the aggressive English batters. Starc’s addition will also help the experienced offspinner Nathan Lyon, who had a great game in the first Test of the series.

“Because of how England is playing, I’m really excited to see Mitchell Starc play again. I think that his extra airspeed and the different angles he can make from over and around the wicket, which are both very good, will give him a lot of chances. With his footmarks, he will also bring Nathan Lyon into the game even more,” he said.
