The Australia A coaching group for the series against Sri Lanka A in Darwin starting on July 4 will include Tim Paine, Adam Griffith, the national pace bowling coach, Scott Prestwidge, the assistant coach for the Australian women’s team, and Trent Keep, the Pathway and Development coach for Northern Territory Cricket.
In addition to coaching the PM’s XI against India last December, Tim Paine has served as a support coach for the Australian women’s squad and Australia A men’s program for the previous two years.
In addition to his duties with the Adelaide Strikers and Australia A, Tim Paine will continue to coach the Australian women’s team on occasion during the forthcoming season.
Twelve men’s athletes have been selected by the National Selection Panel (NSP) to visit the MRF Academy in Chennai from July 31 to August 13.
Emerging batsmen, wicketkeepers, and spin bowlers are the main focus of the 13-day visit; the NSP believes that these players will gain from experiencing the particulars of sub-continental cricket.
Those selected can have a personalised experience thanks to Cricket Australia’s partnership with the MRF Academy. Intense training opportunities, match play, and access to strength and conditioning facilities are all part of the schedule.
Alongside Australia U19s and New South Wales coach Anthony Clark, South Australia batting coach Stephen Stubbings, and Cricket Queensland Academy coach Greg Moller, Brian McFadyen, Senior Program Manager (men’s cricket) for Cricket Australia, will be travelling as tour manager.
For the multi-format series against Sri Lanka in Darwin, Australia A has also added Zanden Jeh, an uncontracted left-arm finger-spinner.
“We’re happy to maintain our long-standing partnership with the MRF Academy and give another group of young players a genuinely unique experience,” stated Ben Oliver, CA Executive General Manager National Teams.
“This trip will provide an opportunity to gain valuable new experience in testing conditions, as it will be the first time for a number of players to tour the subcontinent.”
“We’re excited for Tim Paine to take over as head coach of Australia A this season and continue his participation in national programs from the previous two years.”
“Tim Paine brings a wealth of modern playing and coaching experience to the role and is passionate about helping the next generation of Australian players.”
