Tim Seifert, a batter and wicketkeeper from New Zealand, inked a two-year deal with the Melbourne Renegades as a pre-draft BBL signing. Due to his selection, the batter will miss a portion of Super Smash, the local T20 competition in New Zealand. It is probable that he will also be absent from the 2024–25 white-ball series against Pakistan.
It is noteworthy that the 29-year-old declined a contract offer to play T20 as a freelancer from Northern Districts, New Zealand’s First Class squad. In addition to being actively associated with numerous T20 teams across the globe, he has represented New Zealand in three ODIs and 61 T20Is. Seifert, who is ready to go, will have to compete with players like Josh Brown and Jake Fraser McGurk.
“I’m thrilled to be here for the next two seasons, I’ll be able to enjoy the environment and get to know the club on that deeper level which doesn’t often happen in franchise cricket so I’m excited to call myself a Gade for the next couple of seasons at least,” Tim Seifert was quoted by.
“That top three position would be fantastic, and I’ll be prepared for it as well if Cam [White] thinks I’m the guy to take the gloves. I’m prepared to blend in and take on whatever role Whitey and the Renegades need me to, he continued.
In 61 Twenty20 Internationals, Tim Seifert has amassed 1291 points at a strike rate of 134.75 and an average of 25.31.
“Fantastic for our club to lock in Tim and still retain our prized Platinum pick,” said Renegades general manager James Rosengarten in reference to the right-handed batter’s 4829 runs scored at an average of 27.43 and a strike rate of 130.12 in 218 games.
