"They have three No. 11s," he said. - Ollie Robinson talks about how England's bouncer attack on Australian tailenders worked.

Australia’s first turn at bat in the Edgbaston Test of the Ashes in 2023 gave people a lot to talk about. From Usman Khawaja’s huge hit to Ollie Robinson goodbye to the 36-year-old, everything was big. But one thing to talk about could be how quickly England got rid of the last few Australian players in the first test.

At one point in the game, the Aussies were 372/6. However, they lost their last four wickets for only 14 runs. Short balls got rid of Nathan Lyon, Scott Boland, and Pat Cummins.

Ollie Robinson, a pacer, said that Australia’s lower-order hitters didn’t do much to help their team after England threw a lot of bouncers at them.

He said that they had talked about it as a group, and he also said that England thinks Australia has three No. 11s.

“We talked about it as a group. We said that after Cummins, they seem to have three No. 11s. At the conclusion of the day’s play, Ollie Robinson said in a press conference, “It’s something we can work on over the course of the series. We can try to end their innings quickly and get a head start on ours.”

“Really, I think it has to do with pitch. Pat Cummins is a really good player, and I think we thought that bowling full to their tail would give them a chance to maybe score some more runs, so it’s a wicket plan, but it’s also harder to score when it’s two-paced,” he said.

Australia was bowled out for 386 runs, and England went into the second inning with a slim lead of seven runs. But the team led by Ben Stokes got off to a bad start in the second inning when both openers were taken out by Australia’s fast bowlers.

Scott Boland got rid of Zak Crawley for seven runs, and Pat Cummins got rid of Ben Duckett. At the end of Day 3, England had 28 runs and two wickets, and Joe Root and Ollie Pope were at the bat.
