they also require a fallback strategy: Pragyan Ojha

Pragyan Ojha, a former cricket player, thinks that England will support its Bazball formula in the forthcoming five-match Test series against India, starting on January 25. Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum have guided the Three Lions to remarkable success with their attacking style of cricket. Nevertheless, a lot of former cricket players have questioned its ability to succeed in India’s spin-friendly environment.

In reference to the same, Pragyan Ojha said that the guests should prepare a backup plan. The circumstances won’t be the same as they were in Pakistan, where England defeated them 3-0, he continued. He emphasized that the Ben Stokes-led team may have some difficulties because the spinners will have a significant edge from the surface. He also mentioned that it won’t be simple to play an aggressive style of cricket against Indian pacers.

“I think England’s chosen approach will give them a lot of confidence. However, since the circumstances won’t be the same as they were in Pakistan, they need a backup plan. The batsmen were favored by the somewhat better wickets. The spinners will benefit from the current circumstances.

Therefore, how they approach this will be crucial,” Pragyan Ojha said in a JioCinema interview.

“Bazball is a brave cricket game, and England uses this tactic to try and get a psychological advantage. It will be challenging to execute Bazball in India due of the difficulty of facing the Indian spinners, as well as Jasprit Bumrah and the other fast bowlers, he continued.

England is getting ready for India’s next Test series in the United Arab Emirates.

In the meantime, England has established a training base in the United Arab Emirates in order to prepare for the next Test series against spinners. They have been under heavy criticism for this, with some former cricket players suggesting that they should go to India for more effective training sessions. The team management disregarded it, though.

Interestingly, the Three Lions are scheduled to arrive in India on Monday, January 22, and may hold two practice sessions there prior to playing their first Test match in Hyderabad.
