In the current Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Virat Kohli has been scoring goals for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on a regular basis. But lately, there has been increased focus on his off-field pursuits.
Recently, Kohli unintentionally liked an Avneet Kaur fan page’s Instagram post. The 36-year-old explained that when he was attempting to delete his feed, the algorithm inadvertently recorded an interaction. Before singer Rahul Vaidya intervened, the conversation surrounding this incident was gradually dying down.
Kohli was the focus of several Instagram stories posted by the second-runner-up from the first season of Indian Idol. The Delhi batter, according to Vaidya, blocked him on Instagram. But the former mocked the former RCB captain by blaming it on Instagram’s algorithm.
“Main kehna chahta hoon ki aaj ke baad aisa ho sakta hai ki algorithm bohot saare photos like karde jo maine nahi kare.” Therefore, jo bhi ladki ho (I would like to mention that in the future, the algorithm may favour a lot of photographs that I didn’t take). It is not my fault, so please, girls, don’t do any public relations around it. Instagram made a mistake, don’t you think? Vaidya penned.
“As you are all aware, Virat Kohli has blocked me. Virat Kohli didn’t block me, thus I believe it is also an Instagram bug. Virat Kohli once said, “Ek kaam kar, main tere behalf pe Rahul Vaidya ko block kar deti hoon,” in reference to Instagram’s algorithm. Virat Kohli jokingly signed off, “Hay na (Instagram’s algorithm told him, ‘I’ll block Rahul Vaidya on your behalf’) Right?”
Following Vaidya’s social media posts about Kohli, the cricket legend’s supporters also turned their attention towards the former. Vaidya asserted that because of the recent online activity, Kohli’s supporters have been harassing him and his family members on social media.
He expressed his rage about the insults directed at his family in an Instagram story, writing, “Virat Kohli’s fans are even bigger jokers than Virat!”… “Now that you are mistreating me, that’s all right, but you are mistreating my sister and wife, who are unrelated to this! I was correct, then. You Virat Kohli fans are all jokers because of this! Vaidya wrote, “2 kaudi ke (worthless) jokers,” in frustration.
Vaidya said during a Zoom chat that while he admires Virat Kohli cricket skills, he does not think highly of him as a person.
“For some reason, Virat Kohli has blocked me. I have no idea what the reason is. I was a fan of his once. Even if I still like the cricket player, I don’t think he’s a good person,” he stated.
In 11 IPL 2025 games, Kohli has hammered 505 runs at an average of 63.13. The Orange Cap is now held by him. With 16 points from 11 games, RCB is likewise comfortably atop the standings. They will play again on Friday, May 9, against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.
