The Pakistan T20I bowling coach, Andre Adams, has been appointed from New Zealand.

For their next home five-match Twenty20 International series against Pakistan, former all-rounder Andre Adams has been named bowling coach for New Zealand. Shane Jurgesen, who left the role following the 2023 World Cup, will have a temporary replacement.

Adams possesses prior experience working with the Australian national squad. On Wednesday, January 10, in Auckland, he will begin his role as the Blackcaps’ bowling coach. Between 2001 and 2007, the 48-year-old represented New Zealand in one Test, 42 ODIs, and four T20Is. Before ending his playing career in 2015, he also competed for teams including Nottinghamshire, Hampshire, and Essex in the English county circuit.

Andre Adams began coaching after he ended his cricket career. In 2019, he was named the bowling coach of New South Wales, and he was praised for getting Mitchell Starc back to form. During his tenure with the Auckland team, Adams also had a significant impact on the development of Kiwi speedster Lockie Ferguson. In addition, Adams was the Sydney Sixers’ bowling coach in the Big Bash League (BBL).

During the New Zealand women’s team’s limited-overs tour of South Africa in September and October of last year, Andre Adams was named bowling coach.

New Zealand’s strength and conditioning coach Chris Donaldson and team performance manager Simon Insley took breaks while the T20I match against Pakistan was in progress. During the series, Dave Meiring, the high performance manager for Central Districts, and Matt Long, the head of athlete development at Cricket Wellington, will assume the positions held by Donaldson and Insley.

On Friday, January 12, Auckland will host the first Twenty20 International (T20I). The second and third T20Is will be contested in Hamilton and Dunedin, respectively. It will be in Christchurch for the final two games.

Following a depressing 0-3 Test series loss to Australia, Pakistan is reeling. In contrast, New Zealand and Bangladesh were tied 1-1 at home in a three-match Twenty20 International series.
