On Tuesday, December 19, the highly anticipated IPL 2024 auction will take place at Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena. During the bidding event, 333 players will go under the hammer; 214 of them are Indian, 119 are foreign players, and 2 are players from partner nations. To fill the final 77 spots among their squads, the ten organizations will be seen engaging in a bidding war. 333 players in all have been divided into 19 sets for the big event, which is noteworthy.
The names of the players in the first 10 sets in each category—battery, all-rounders, wicketkeepers, fast bowlers, and spinners—both capped and uncapped will be announced by the auctioneer prior to the start of the auction. After that, teams will raise their paddles to make bids on the athletes they want. Seventy players fall under the first ten sets, according to the BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) list.
Following the conclusion of the first 10 matches, there will be a lengthy intermission during which the teams will be requested to provide the names of the 263 players from the remaining nine sets that they would like to purchase. Members of the IPL Governing Council will create a new list after the shortlisting, integrating all of the names provided by the ten franchises that will participate in the expedited round.
Until all 10 teams have completed their rosters, there will be more accelerated rounds.
Additionally, following the first accelerated round, if any franchise still hasn’t finalized its roster, a second one will be held in which the remaining teams will once again be required to submit the names of the players they’re interested in purchasing from the unsold list. This process will be repeated until all ten organizations have assembled squads consisting of twenty-five players each.
