The Hundred 2025: Matt Henry replaces injured Chris Woakes at Welsh Fire

Welsh Fire will replace injured Chris Woakes with Matt Henry for the rest of The Hundred Men’s 2025. Woakes’ injured shoulder forced him out of the event. He got this severe injury while fielding on the opening day of the final England-India Test series at The Oval.

After the second Test between Zimbabwe and New Zealand, Henry will join the Fire. His ballplay has been excellent throughout forms. The right-arm fast has bowled 6/39, 3/51, and 5/40 against Zimbabwe in three innings.

He contributed to New Zealand’s tri-series win over South Africa and Zimbabwe before the Test series. In the tri-series, the 33-year-old took 10 wickets in four innings at 8.47 while surrendering runs.

In the 100-ball competition, Henry has played eight matches (two in 2023 and six in 2024) for Welsh Fire, taking 11 wickets.

Matt Henry has had a great tournament economics (4.62 in 2023 and 7.25 in 2024).

Northern Superchargers defeated Welsh Fire in their season opener with eight wickets and 11 deliveries to spare. They reached 143/9 after batting first because to wicketkeeper-batter Jonny Bairstow’s 23-ball 43. However, Zak Crawley’s undefeated 67-run off 38 balls defeated them. Riley Meredith (2/33 in 20 balls) grabbed both opposing wickets.
