Shivam Dube recently revealed what he and Jadeja were thinking as the last over approached while still unbeaten on 32 off 21 balls. The CSK all-rounder claimed that they were confident in their ability to succeed and that their conviction had served them well.
The 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) featured ten clubs battling it out for the coveted trophy in an exciting contest. In the end, the summit match in Ahmedabad featured the defending champion Gujarat Titans and the four-time champion Chennai Super Kings.
In the rain-drenched championship game, Chennai needed 13 runs in the final over to tie Mumbai Indians’ record of five IPL titles. At the wicket, Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja were facing an effective Mohit Sharma. The first four deliveries only produced three runs, giving the impression that Gujarat had the winning hand. Jadeja, on the other hand, blasted a six and a four, whipping the Super Kings supporters into a frenzy.
“We needed 13 runs in the final over, and Ravindra Jadeja bhai and I were both power hitters then. We were motivated by our conviction that we would triumph. Concerning who will score the winning runs, we didn’t care. Although I had a massive shot planned to put pressure on Mohit bhai after his amazing yorker, he bowled the next four balls beautifully, and we scored three runs. Ten runs were now necessary. However, we both had the conviction that we could succeed, Shivam Dube remarked during a discussion on Aakash Chopra’s daily show “#AAKASHVANI” on JioCinema.
“Jaddu smashed a six on the sixth ball, drastically altering the outcome of the match. I was aware that players don’t typically run three or four runs in the IPL, especially on a field this size where I might need to move quickly. A super over could result from three runs. So, I kept myself ready, and as soon as the bat connected, I rushed as fast as I could without recognizing that the ball had already gone for a boundary!”

The 30-year-old stated that playing for India and winning the World Cup are his goals for the following five years. Dube also shared the guidance he received from the venerable MS Dhoni, captain of the CSK.
“I want to play for India, to represent the nation, and to help India win the World Cup. I am moving in the proper way at this time. And when I ask MS Bhaiya for guidance on how he used to play, he always assures me that the graph would rise gradually, that everything will fall into place, and that the right moment will come.
Recently, the left-handed batter joined the India team again in time for the T20I series in Ireland.
