After Meg Lanning was named captain,
The shoe feels really large. We all know, of course, how successful Meg was both as an Australian team captain and as a player. I understand that there are some extremely large shoes to fill. It’s a good chance, in my opinion, to see how I would lead the group into the next generation and the iteration of the legacy they wish to build. Getting the position full-time is quite thrilling. For the past twelve months, I have been filling in.
Regarding her views on leadership
Being captain doesn’t give me an ego. It’s not a rule of dictators. I’m not here to instruct others on playing. The focus is primarily on fostering the upcoming generation of leaders in our organization, as we have several outstanding senior players leading their home clubs. Superstars of the future are emerging to close that gap and guarantee that they can take the initiative and play the game the way they want to. I’m pushing for everyone to speak up. For this team to succeed over the next ten to fifteen years, it is crucial.
On insights gained from the WPL
I had a better understanding of Indian cricketers’ lives because of the WPL. Historically, we have traveled here to play India as an Australian squad. I have a newfound respect for the Indian cricket players because of the WPL. We simply adjust instead of having any control over the conditions we can expect. We don’t get to experience getting to know every girl on an international scale. But it was eye-opening to observe how someone like Deepti Sharma approaches things while seated in the same room as her.
Regarding the distinctions in culture between Australia and India
Sport is a huge passion in Australia. We don’t follow any one sport with undue fervor. We simply adore our athletes. Some cricketers are celebrities over here, and the Smriti Mandhanas and Harmanpreet Kaurs are shown on the billboard. Here, that is highly significant. It opened my eyes to understand what they deal with on a daily basis and how much the fans, in particular, want you to succeed.
About Mitchell Starc record-breaking IPL bid
At the time of the bid, I was working out at the gym, getting ready for the test. At first, the idea that a proposal of this kind could succeed shocked and amazed people. That sum of money is absurd. In his perspective, Mitchell Starc sees it as a chance to return and take part in the IPL. Since he hasn’t been here in eight years, he sees this as an exciting chance to become a key member of a new club and experience a new team.
