The early IPL 2024 kickoff is probably going to force Ranji Trophy matches out of franchise locations.

The upcoming general elections in April and May will have an impact on the timetable, which means that the eagerly anticipated Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 will begin early. Cricket fans are talking about the possibility that the IPL action could begin earlier than anticipated, even though nothing is official yet.

There are eleven possible locations for the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly told them to get ready for play starting the first week of March. In addition to accommodating the IPL, this early preparation gives players a little time to relax before they begin training for the 2024 T20 World Cup with their national teams.

“After the domestic season concludes, the concerned centers typically get three weeks to rest and get ready for the IPL. The IPL is going to start a little bit sooner this time around due to the parliamentary elections,” a state official told The Telegraph on Monday.

The representative further underlined that starting in February, these locations will not hold any Ranji Trophy, club, or local matches under BCCI’s directive.

Thus, starting in February, the BCCI has directed all Indian Premier League venues to refrain from hosting any Ranji Trophy, club, or other local matches. This directive was issued quite recently. The field needs to be kept ready so that the teams can start making plans as early as the first week of March, the official continued.

Ranji Trophy 2024: State teams will have to find other locations for their matches because their home grounds will be used for IPL practice. The Ranji Trophy season runs from January 4 to March 14.

ESPNcricinfo reports that the 2024 Indian Premier League season, which is currently scheduled to run from March 22 to May 31, will come before the T20 World Cup, which is set to start on June 3. The Election Commission’s release of the general election dates is a prerequisite for finalizing the IPL program.

The 2023 season saw the Indian Premier League return to its home-and-away format following the problems brought on by the COVID-19 epidemic. With various stadiums hosting matches and a return to the popular home-and-away format, the 2019 season promises more cricket excitement.
