On Saturday, April 19, the Delhi Capitals lost to Gujarat Titans by seven wickets in their seventh IPL 2025 encounter in Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
Axar Patel (39 off 32), Ashutosh Sharma (37 off 19), and Karun Nair (31 off 18) helped the Delhi Capitals reach 203/8 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first. Then, led by Sherfane Rutherford’s 41 off 34 and Jos Buttler’s undefeated 97 off 54, the home team chased down the target in 19.2 overs.
In a post-match press conference, Delhi Capitals pacer Mukesh Kumar did not sugarcoat the defeat, saying, “The match went well, but if we had fielded better, conceded fewer runs, or scored 10–15 more, the match could have been more evenly poised and the pressure could have been on the opposition.”
After seven games this season, the Delhi Capitals have two losses and five victories, giving them 10 points. The Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, have the same record but are atop the points table because of a little higher NRR.
“Everyone learns from every match,” Kumar added in reference to the lessons learnt from the game. As a result, we learnt where we could have improved in this encounter. Winning was expected, but it was not possible. However, that is not an issue; we will continue on our current course. We’ll fix the minor errors and go to the next phase,” he said in closing.
