The Colombo Strikers, who will be playing in the Lanka Premier League for the first time this year, named a star-studded Icon Players lineup on May 23, 2023. Some of the Icon Players are Pakistan’s captain, Babar Azam, the fast bowler Naseem Shah, who is very skilled, and the T20 stars Matheesha Pathirana and Chamika Karunaratne from Sri Lanka.
Matheesha Pathirana, who is only 20, has taken the cricket world by storm with his play in T20s over the past few months. The fast bowler has taken out 22 batsmen in 20 games, for an amazing average of 22.36.
Chamika Karunaratne, who can bowl and do other things, will be a key member of the Colombo Strikers team. In 93 T20 games, the experienced player has taken 60 wickets and made 726 runs.
Fans of cricket all over the world will pay a lot of attention to the Colombo club now that Pakistan superstar Babar Azam is playing for them. The player at the top of the order has scored a total of 9201 runs in 260 T20s, with an average of 44.02.
Together with Pathirana, fast bowler Naseem Shah will try to lead the bowling attack. In 76 games, he has got 73 wickets, which is a great average of 29.75.
Sagar Khanna said this about the Icon Players announcement: “We are so excited to have four of the biggest T20 stars on our Icon Players team. We have a strong group of core players that we will use to build a good team for the season. With these stars on our side, we’re well on our way to putting together a strong team.”
In the first season of the Lanka Premier League, which will be from July to August 2023, the Colombo Strikers will play.
