The remaining 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) schedule will be revealed following stakeholder input, according to BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla. The escalating tensions along the border between India and Pakistan have resulted in a one-week suspension of the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League. Shukla promised that the Indian cricket board will support the government and the country’s military.
“Due to the current circumstances, the IPL 2025 has been suspended for one week. Following discussions with the government, interested parties, and broadcasters, the tournament’s revised schedule will be revealed. The Indian Army is something we are proud of.
The Tribune cited Shukla as stating, “BCCI stands with our Armed Forces and the government.”
The match between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) was called off in the middle of the first innings on May 8 at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. The players from both teams were taken to their hotels, while the fans were asked to leave the stadium.
Notably, IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal also explained that the rationale for calling off the game due to floodlight failure was merely a ploy to keep everyone calm. Given that Dharamshala is only 85–90 km from the Indian border, the board subsequently verified that the game was really called off in order to ensure the safety of the players and spectators in the face of the deteriorating circumstances.
“The Punjab-Delhi match yesterday was called off in the midst for security reasons because of the tension between India and Pakistan. However, the administration was already in contact with the Punjab Kings franchisee, the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association, and all of the operations staff since something similar might have happened. Sanjay Sharma, a member of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), stated that the administration was well aware of this.
