To discuss preparations for the Women's T20 World Cup in 2024, the BCB and Emirates Cricket Board met

Officials from the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) met on September 4 to discuss the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, which was moved from Bangladesh to the United Arab Emirates. After careful consideration, the International Cricket Council decided to move the event from Bangladesh because of political unrest there that was resulting in both casualties and damage to public property.

But the 17-day event’s official host continues to be the BCB. Notably, Sharjah and Dubai will now serve as a big venue for the worldwide cricket match. In Abu Dhabi, CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury and BCB President Faruque Ahmed met with ECB Chief Nahyan Mabarak Al Nahyan and other ECB officials. Geoff Allardice, the chief executive of ICC, attended the meeting as well.

“It is with great pleasure that the UAE will host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The Emirates Cricket Board has demonstrated time and again that it is capable of organising world-class events, and we are once again prepared to do so. Mabarak Al Nahyan was cited as saying, “I want to thank the Bangladesh Cricket Board and the International Cricket Council for their confidence and trust in us.

“We look forward to welcoming all participants and providing top-class cricketing facilities over the course of the tournament which would see the best in the women’s game competing for the ultimate glory in the T20 format,” he stated.

We are appreciative of the Emirates Cricket Board’s initiative: Faruque Ahmed

Prior to this, the Indian Cricket Council (ICC) redesigned the schedule because the highly anticipated match between women from India and Pakistan is scheduled to take place in Dubai on October 6. The Apex Council also stated that India will play in the first round of the final four in Dubai on October 17 if they advance to the semifinals. Faruque Ahmed, meanwhile, seemed very optimistic about the event turning out to be a huge success.

“The Emirates Cricket Board deserves our gratitude for agreeing to host the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in Dubai and Sharjah. International cricket has long been played at these two locations, including several significant global tournaments. We are completely confident that the ECB can effectively organise the tournament. The two boards get along extremely well, and we’re excited to collaborate closely with the ICC and ECB to deliver the tournament,” Faruque stated.
