Moeen Ali
Moeen Ali, an all-rounder for England, has contemplated a return to the longest format for the forthcoming Ashes series that will be played on English soil. Ali has also been selected for the first two Test matches against Australia, beginning at Edgbaston on June 16.

The 35-year-old has been added to the Test squad in place of Jack Leach, who suffered a lower back stress fracture in the one-off Test against Ireland, ultimately ruling him out for the entirety of the Ashes series. Ali’s announcement that he will retire from Test cricket in 2021 is undoubtedly welcome news for his supporters worldwide.

The squash-playing all-rounder also announced his return to the English whites with an Instagram post, which was subsequently confirmed by England Cricket via their official Twitter account, which stated, “He’s back! “Welcome home, Mo!

Given that England will be attempting to reclaim the Ashes, which they lost to Australia in 2021–22, Ali’s presence in the squad can significantly improve their chances. The veteran England all-rounder has unquestionably been an asset for the England team in home conditions, as he has amassed astounding statistics in 64 matches for his national team while wearing whites. Perhaps the premier all-rounder is best qualified by his aggressive batting style and lethal spin bowling.

Rob Key, the managing director of England men’s cricket, stated earlier in the week that they had approached the star all-rounder and that Moeen Ali is excited to return to Test cricket after giving it time to settle in. Key agrees that Ali’s extensive knowledge and multifaceted skills will be advantageous to England’s Ashes campaign.

With 64 test matches under his belt, Moeen will provide the team with invaluable experience. In Test matches, the prolific all-rounder has scored 2914 runs and taken 195 wickets. For the series, the England team will assemble in Birmingham on June 12 and begin practicing at Edgbaston on June 13.
