Tejashwi Yadav, the son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, was a professional cricket player before pursuing a career in politics, for the uninitiated among you. He never appeared in the Indian Premier League starting lineup, but he was a member of the Delhi U-19 team and the Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) roster from 2008 to 2012.
Tejashwi revealed in a recent conversation that no one realized he was a professional cricket player. He also gave the explanation for his decision to quit cricket, citing the fact that former India captain Virat Kohli captained the team while he was younger.
“I used to play cricket, but nobody talks about it. Has anyone ever discussed that I captained Virat Kohli throughout our time together? Why don’t they take that action? I was a decent cricket player as a professional. My batchmates are many players on Team India. Due to fractures in both of my ligaments, I had to quit. Let it be,” Tejashwi said in a social media-viral interview that was cited by Hindustan Times.
Regarding Tejashwi’s cricketing history, he represented Jharkhand in four Twenty20 matches, two List-A games, and one First-Class match. The middle-order hitter made his state debut in November 2009 and finished his playing career in February 2010, totaling 37 runs scored and one wicket claimed.
