The news of terrorist assaults in the Pahalgam district of Jammu & Kashmir, where a group of terrorists shot dead several tourists on Tuesday, April 22, sent the entire country of India into a state of shock. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to hold a minute of silence for the victims of the attacks at the April 23 IPL 2025 match after the horrifying occurrence left the state in deep sorrow.
Prior to Wednesday’s Match 41 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad, the umpires, players, and other match officials will all be wearing black armbands as part of the observation. Additionally, the board has decided not to have any cheerleaders, DJs, or fireworks displays during this game.
“Black armbands are required for today’s games for both players and umpires. There won’t be any cheerleaders or pyrotechnics tonight, and there will be a minute’s quiet before the game begins,” The Tribune India cited a BCCI source as stating.
Players and supporters will assemble at the stadium just prior to kickoff to observe a minute of silence and offer their condolences to the 28 innocent people who perished in this cruel act in the northern region of the country. The game is scheduled to begin in Hyderabad at 7:30 PM (Indian Standard Time).
After learning about the incident, a number of prominent cricket players have also expressed their opinions. One of the most well-known cricket players, Virat Kohli, has also expressed his sorrow over the innocent lives lost in Pahalgam. In addition, Kohli called for punishment for the terrorist group’s terrible act.

Sincere sympathies to the victims’ families. “I’m praying for justice to be served for this heinous act and for peace and strength to be given to the families of everyone who died,” Kohli posted on his Instagram story on Wednesday morning.
