The Irish win thanks to McBrine’s undefeated half-century.
With more than two days remaining in the match and needing to chase 158, the home team decided to go into the last inning determined to win. But much to their chagrin, Blessing Muzarabani and Ngarava’s outstanding bowling combination forced half the team to retreat with just 21 runs scored. Zimbabwe was fully engaged in the match until McBrine and keeper-batter Lorcan Tucker made the decision to advance the team.
Ultimately, the two put on a 96-run duet that undoubtedly put the home club back in the hunt. Before being undone by Muzarabani, the stumper-batter scored a solid 56 off just 64 deliveries. As the new batter, Mark Adair and McBrine worked well together to stay at the crease until the finishing line was crossed.
